September 2020 Blog Post From Margie

Even though there is still a pandemic, we at the Laurens Baptist Association are looking for mission opportunities! Our LBA Ministry Center is still reaching out to our community. Our LBA J.O.Y. Clinic continues to work hard to minister to others during these times.

Please remember as it gets closer to Christmas there is a real need for canned items as well as other items at our Ministry Ce
nter.

We still did the Backpacks Ministry this year. We carried 561 very packed “Backpacks of Hope” to our Appalachian Children Ministry in Virginia. Also, we ordered backpacks that were sent directly to our Navajo Native American Backpack Ministry in New Mexico. We have had a ministry there for 13 years. Our hearts, as well as the church people’s heart there were broken because, we couldn’t go this year due to the pandemic. So, we made the best of it! We purchased items needed for their backpacks and we had them shipped directly to New Mexico. There are so many needs in this area of Coolidge and Thoreau, New Mexico. Presently, there is a great need for masks and hand sanitizer!

Papa Tommy (one of our faithful Navajo Native American friends) is excited about our giving! That’s him with the boxed backpacks and some of the supplies we sent for the children.

If you would like to give to our LBA Ministry Center or to our mission in New Mexico, you can send a check to us at: LBA, 1882 Trinity Hills Dr, Dublin, Ga 31021. Please note in the “for section” which particular mission you wish to support.

The Truck-Loading for the Baxley Children’s Home still happened this year. It had to be done a little different but, people still supported it!

We thank God for the blessed opportunity of still “GIVING” during these times! We thank God for “YOUR GIVING HEARTS!”

It’s an exciting time at the LBA this week as we are getting ready to carry bottled water, wipes and roofing tarps to the Hurricane victims of St Charles, Louisiana. Our LBA Disaster Team, led by Pastor Kenny and Kim Rowland is great! You folks are so awesome in giving to such needs as this! Yes, the Laurens Baptist Association churches are so generous! We are blessed to see people come together to help!

That’s what an association is all about! For, together we can do more! Our God is awesome!

I have to say something about this journey Bobby and I have been on. Your life does change when you are told your spouse has brain cancer! God has still blessed us in the midst of it all! We know things could have been so much worse! When you are told by your Neurosurgeon that you can still preach from a wheelchair and you go from there to walking without a cane, you know that is only God! Yes, our God is awesome! Bobby is taking the stronger Chemo pills for 5 days a month. Of course, he is tired and needs more rest but, he is determined and keeps going. We both keep going on with life, which in itself is a wonderful gift from God! Thanks so much for all of your thoughts and prayers.

During this pandemic, let’s all be reminded that our God is still on His throne and He is still in control! As Christians, we have so many truths from God's Word to hold on to during hard times!

Please know it is my privilege to serve our Lord with our 52 churches of the Laurens Baptist Association.

God Bless You!
