LBA Philippines Mission Team - Camotes Island, Philippine
The Laurens Baptist Association Philippines Mission Team has returned from Camotes Island, Philippine. This mission trip travel and time traveling (especially their lay-overs going due to plane cancellations on this that was on this trip) can be a real challenge just to get to this one of the many, many islands of the Philippines. Please see the pictures for some of the highlights from the 5-day Vacation Bible School where the kids got a free lunch every day, free reading glasses for the adults, we had an impromptu wedding, & baptized 4 people! Definitely packed a lot into our trip! Our LBA Shady Grove Baptist Church started the church on this island and it is called Shady Grove Baptist Mission Church. The Pastor, Ronie and his wife work hard to help the peoples many needs, this includes of course their spiritual needs! Pastor Ronie, his wife, the church and even the other people of the island are always so glad to see you when you come to their island! The people of the island are very, very poor. There was a real need for hunger found on this trip and the mission team was blessed to help fill that need. The LBA would like to have teams going over more often, but this is such an expensive trip. You and I can pray for the peoples of Camotes Island to be saved as well as pray for the hungry. Also, pray for Pastor Ronie and his wife to be encourage and equipped as they try to help the people. Pray God will give them safety and wisdom as they serve.
Pictured is: Arnel Mesa who is now in the 12th grade. He is a member of Shady Grove Baptist Mission Church on Camotes Island in the Philippines. The Church was planted when Arnel was very young. Arnel was only around 7 or 8 years old when I first met him at our church plant. He has grown up in the church and he is very faithful. Since Arnel was saved he has really grown in his relationship with Jesus Christ. He feels a call into ministry. He wants to go the seminary on Cebu Island which is a couple of hours by boat ride from Camotes Island. He cannot afford to go to seminary, even though it is only around $560.00 a year. I feel God has opened the door for the LBA to pay his tuition. What an awesome opportunity to put more ministers out in the field in the Philippines!
Also, Andrew Gonzales grew up in the church at Shady Grove Baptist Mission Church. He wants to go to IT school in San Francisco on Camotes Island. He is a young Christian man who very much wants to do something positive with his life. Ordinarily, he couldn’t afford to, either. It will cost around $325.00 a year and we will be providing his funds as well. I feel God has provided this for these young men thorough the LBA.
Our Shady Grove Baptist Church has provided so much for these people over the years! I appreciate all they have poured into Shady Grove Baptist Mission Church on Camotes Island. God is doing so many amazing things through Shady Grove Baptist Mission Church. I praise God for the ministry there on the Island and for our opportunity to bless them thorough the LBA! The Laurens Baptist Association Missions reach near and far and I am thankful to be a part of an association that reaches out in missions in so many ways!
